Who We Are
The United Way School Resource Center provides critical items such as clothing and school supplies to students in need within the School District of Lee County. Items are requested by district social workers, counselors, and other key staff.
We invite YOU to participate in this essential and rewarding initiative by giving your time & talents to assist with sorting donated goods (typically clothing), fulfilling orders in a timely manner, and other related tasks.
Volunteers must be able to stand frequently, lift up to 10 lbs. and observe social distancing guidelines including mask-wearing while interacting with other volunteers and staff.
Set your own day(s) and times. Available days: Monday – Friday (8 am – 4 pm)
The goal of this program is to provide new school clothing, shoes, hygiene items, mask face coverings, and school supplies including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue, scissors, rulers to any child in need attending a Lee County public school.
In our first year, over 29,000 items went out to our students totaling a dollar amount of $734,125.00. We served 49 elementary, 20 middle, and 15 high schools. This could not have happened had it not been for our Amazing and Generous DONORS.
This school year we know the needs are growing and we anticipate significantly increased needs now that most children are back in the classrooms.
We recognize many volunteer opportunities are available to you and sincerely hope you will consider our advantages:
- We have lots of FUN, laughs, and camaraderie with snacks provided!
- Any amount of time is appreciated. Regularly scheduled volunteers or periodic availability is welcome. You set your own day(s) and times. Available days: Monday – Friday (8 am – 4 pm).
- COVID-19 precautions are taken very seriously. There is no direct exposure to children.
- Only NEW items are provided to the children.
- Handicap accommodations are available.
