Role and Responsibilities:
As a Community Outreach Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to engage with various communities and individuals, ensuring they are aware of the benefits and services offered by the VITA program. What can you do to help? Here are some ways:
- Community Engagement: Actively reach out to diverse communities, including students, Haitians, Latinos, and low-income working families. Attend community events, workshops, and gatherings to promote the VITA program's services and build strong connections.
- Information Sharing: Educate taxpayers about the eligibility criteria for VITA services and the importance of claiming tax credits and refunds. Address any queries and provide guidance on how they can benefit from the program.
- Culturally Inclusive Outreach: Tailor your outreach efforts to resonate with the unique backgrounds and needs of each community. Use culturally sensitive approaches to foster trust and understanding.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Establish partnerships with community organizations, schools, colleges, and local businesses to expand the reach of VITA's message and services.
