This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department. Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer ensures timely activation and monitoring of local and regional DAT responses. The Duty Officer supports the DAT program at the chapter level.

Volunteers will choose their own shifts throughout the month based on these available, daily shift times.  Preferred time commitment is minimum 1 shift per week.

Overnight          12 a.m. (Midnight) to 8am  

Days                    8am – 6pm, (or 8am – 12 p.m. & Noon – 6pm)

Evening              6pm - Midnight

Course Schedule: Class 1: Disaster Preparedness & CERT Organization Class 2: Disaster Medical Parts 1 & 2 Class 3: Search and Rescue & Fire Safety and Utility Controls Class 4: Terrorism and CERT & Course Exercise Class 5: Disaster Psychology & Graduation

Upon completion of the CERT Basic Training course, our volunteers are able to support the City and the Department with additional emergency response related activities and our EOC Activations.
