United Way - VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)/TCE (Tax Care for the Elderly)

Who We Are

VITA/TCE are IRS programs that utilize certified volunteers to help provide free and accurate tax preparation services to low-to-moderate income taxpayers. These services are provided at a variety of public locations throughout Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Charlotte counties & in Immokalee too - along with a 100% virtual site. Last year, VITA volunteers were instrumental in helping over 8 million households receive accurate tax return preparation and all the credits they were entitled to while saving on tax preparation and filing fees. This had an impact of over $13 million dollars on our local communities!

What We Do

United Way’s Free Tax Preparation programs help low-to moderate-income households who have a household income of $70,000 or less prepare their federal tax returns. Returns are e-filed and direct deposited for FREE by United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) or the Tax Care for the Elderly (TCE) program.

We do simple returns.

We cannot do returns that have rental income or self-employment income at a loss, with expenses that exceed $50,000, or with employees.

The United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Care for the Elderly (TCE) program is recruiting volunteers to serve as tax preparers, greeters, and interpreters.

As trained Tax Preparers, volunteers will assist qualified clients by preparing simple tax returns. All volunteers receive FREE comprehensive training and IRS certification in partnership with United Way.

No experience is necessary!

Enrolled Agents, CPAs, Attorneys, & CFPs can earn CE credits.
